June 2009

Key Stage 2 children are enjoying using a new piece of climbing equipment which has recently been installed in their playground. The traversing wall has hand and foot holds which enable children to travel right across the width of the wall and all around the back too! It has proved so popular that we have decided to use it on a rota basis, by year group, so that everyone gets a turn during the week.

April 2009
Improvements have been made to the Nursery and Reception class play areas with a new safety surface for the children to enjoy. This special 'wet pour' surface is designed to cushion any falls and provide a safe, non-slip surface for all weathers. The Nursery design is in the form of a circular(ish) track ~ great for the trikes and pedal vehicles. The Reception classes have coloured shapes dotted around their new area and have put some of their climbing equipment and other resources on to the surface. All of the children are enjoying this new aspect of their play!

May 2009
Over the last few months we have seen the construction of the 'log cabin', situated near our Nursery, being completed. This building is now being used by the Extended Services team from Bracknell Forest working with families from Meadow Vale, as well as our children for a variety of purposes, i.e. an after school care club (Koosa Kids) and, hopefully, holiday clubs during school holidays. It will also serve as a base for parent courses and a children's centre for under 5's 'Stay and Play'. The official opening of The Acorn Centre took place at the beginning of May by local MP, Andrew MacKay, and our Mayor, Bob Edger. Following the official handover and photos by the local press, our visitors spent the morning with staff in the Acorn Centre.

The 'Hornby Club' is now up and running!
The baseboard has been placed in a dedicated corner of the KS2 Hall and the track has been laid. Model buildings have been added and the scenery looks fantastic! Lighting has been added to the surrounding area and the electrical work is now complete.

September 2008:
A team of willing helpers from Dell, based in Bracknell, came to the rescue when the Foundation Stage gardens and play areas needed a little makeover! The list of jobs included tidying the garden, clearing a wildlife area, painting some of the play equipment and the storage shed and the staging outside the Reception classes. The children and staff are delighted with the results and very grateful for all the help received from Dell. The children are very excited about exploring the wildlife discovery area and love the colours of the newly painted equipment. Thank you very much to all the Dell team members for their hard work and support!

Improvements to the school even continued throughout the summer holidays. Essential electrical work was undertaken in the upper school and replacement windows were installed in several KS2 areas including
the Library a
nd ICT Suite.
Several classrooms were redecorated and the
staffroom received a welcome makeover!

New bark has been laid in the adventure
playground.

A welcome new addition to
our grounds is the wonderful bird table presented to the school by Mr Knewell on his retirement at the end of last term!
June 2007:
Work has now been completed to provide
better pedestrian and disabled access into the front of the school. A new footpath has been laid to improve safety and accessibility into the school's main reception entrance.
