1 May 2009 - The Acorn Centre Official Opening!
The Acorn Centre
Official Opening ~ Friday 1st May 2009

Meadow Vale welcomed the Rt Hon. Andrew MacKay, MP today, together with our Mayor, Councillor Bob Edger, school governors and other local dignitaries for the official opening of The Acorn Centre. The Acorn Centre is situated in our school grounds and is home to the Extended Services Team from Bracknell Forest, primarily supporting families and children from Meadow Vale. It is also being used as an after school club run by Koosa Kids and will be used throughout the summer holidays for children's activities and play schemes.

Mr MacKay officially opened The Acorn Centre with the traditional 'cutting the ribbon' and our visitors then enjoyed a tour of the Acorn Centre facilities.

Mr Duncan gave a short speech to thank everybody involved in this project and our visitors then enjoyed light refreshments, including Welsh cakes(!), prepared and served by members of our year 6 cookery club.
We hope to invite Andrew MacKay back at a later date to update him on the progress of the centre's work and also to unveil a mosaic which will be designed and made by the children to mark the opening of
The Acorn Centre.
